What is really happening?

A message from Fostering Imagination's Executive Director and Founder Ilia Jauregui

Please do not be alarmed. Our youth are NOT REALLY MISSING.This is part of a foster care awareness campaign. Fostering Imagination transforms the lives of foster youth in Los Angeles by creating a stable, nurturing and creative community. Our mentoring programs in theatre, filmmaking, adventure and life skills are the method we use to offer our youth the consistency and support they've lacked historically.

Not too long ago one of our youth said to me, "If I ever went missing, I don't think anyone would notice". This statement broke my heart and I knew we needed to do something different to raise awareness about the amazing youth that are being forgotten within the foster care system. Fostering Imagination provides our youth with a stable and nurturing environment surrounded with caring mentors. However, we needed to reach the broader community as a whole, and bring awareness about the critical issues facing foster youth while they are in the system and when they emancipate. Working with a team of media and web professionals we set out to create an innovactive approach to bring awareness, in hopes to inspire people beyond our traditional reach.

What we came up with is "Rescue Mission 2010". A transmedia campaign to raise awareness for the foster youth in LA. As we lead up to our annual fundraiser, "Shipwrecked" on October 9th, Fostering Imagination felt like it was the perfect time to involve the community, and show these kids that they are NOT forgotten and they we care.

Thank you for participating in our awareness building campaign. Just by being on this site you have helped expand the community for the foster youth population. Support our continuing efforts and donate to Fostering Imagination today to help us continue providing the vital support our kids need.
