OUR HISTORY

Fostering Imagination was created in 2005 by family law attorney Ilia Jauregui in response to the growing number of foster youth who become destitute when they emancipate from the foster care system. Working with experienced youth advocates, she set out to develop innovative programs that would empower youth and help them make a successful and health transition to adulthood.

Today, Fostering Imagination offers no-cost mentoring, theatre, outdoor learning and life skills programs to foster youth throughout Los Angeles. Our all-volunteer organization is made up of over 50 volunteers who contribute a combined 135 hours per week, including free transportation to and from all FI activities.
